Bike Commuters Showing Support in New Brunswick

So, this might seem a bit random, but I was browsing the New Brunswick City Government facebook page when I stumbled upon this post:

Happy Bike Commuters in NJ

The post and comments got me really excited so I thought I would share it with you. Only positive comments coming from the city’s residents and encouragement for more. These people are not bicycle advocates, just the residents benefiting from the small step New Brunswick made to be more bike friendly.

Cities like New Brunswick need to see their residents showing support like this so that they know that becoming more bike and pedestrian friendly is the way to go.

In fact, I was just at the Fresh Grocer in New Brunswick with some friends, and I saw that there really are quite a few more racks than are pictured. Along the building on the other side of the street are at least 10 more racks, possibly more.

[UPDATE]

So, after I posted this a good friend of mine Kyle, who works for New Brunswick, and runs their facebook, sent me some photos of the other side of the street with the bike racks. Here is one to show you how many more bike racks we’re talking about:

What is your city doing to become more bike friendly?

Big ups to New Bruns!
